I go into my pictures and I noticed that only the pictures
with .jpg
are the ones that bring up this error.(1706) I also noticed that the screen that
shows up first after double clicking on the picture I want to see asks
something about inserting the Dell Picture Studio - Dell Image Expert disk.
But on the bottom of the screen it has a box that states Use feature from:
and the box has a number 1 in it. With the option to select Browse for
another feature to use from. I hit Browse and gives me all my files. Does
this have to be something else besides the number 1?????? I clicked on
Browse and then hit open and the following error came up IMAGEX.MSI file
not found.
I then click cancel on this screen and then I get the 1706 error.(No valid
source could be found for Product Dell Picture Studio- Dell Image Expert. I
then click OK and it sends me to another box that says it is downloading and
then back to the original screen which asks to Insert CD. I then click the
X and the picture does come up.
any help would be greatly appreciated
Thanks,
Jack

Try doing the following..
Go to the folder where the .jpg image is stored. Hold down the <shift> key on you keyboard, Rigth-Click the icon (.jpg) and click on Open With.. In the window that opens select Iexplore and click OK. This should open the picture in your browser window.
Note that the pic you are trying to open must be a valid jpeg.

Also try un-installing Dell Image expert, if you do not use it (it might not even be on your system
Let me know if it doesn't work.

David,
Thanks for the tips, the first one worked great!!!! As
for Dell Image Expert, this came loaded in my system.
As for the first tip, will this also work on .jpg pictures
that are sent as attachements on e-mails to me???
Thanks again,
Jack

It should have fixed it already. You shouldn't have to do it again.
