'Not a valid add-in' error message in 2002 startup

J

Jeannie

I get this message at start up:
'C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\Application
Data\Microsoft\AddIns\C:\Program Files\Microsoft
Office\Office10\SBCMSYNC.DLL' is not a valid Office add-in.

It doesn't work to go to Tools | Options | Other |
Advanced Options, Add-In Manager and COM Add-Ins. This
file not listed in the Add-In Manager, and when I select
COM Add-ins, I get the same error message above. Neither
can I locate the file using search and other standard
methods.

Thanks for any assistance you can give.

What *is* listed in the Add-In Manager? Try disabling each of the addins
listed to see if they are causing the problem.

McAffee VirusScan, Chapura (Palm) and Exchange Extensions.
I tried disabling each, rebooted, no results.

Add-in manager contains chapura (Palm), extensions and
McAfee Virus protector. Tried disabling each, and all
three, and re-booting without effect. I am afraid this is
a situation in which Outlook is seeking a non-existant
file and means editing the registry, which I am reluctant
to do. (reluctant=scared) Any other ideas?

I'm afraid I don't have any more ideas - I'm really not very familiar with
this aspect of Outlook...
