Hi,

Any experiences using Norton's GoBack with ASUS P4C800-E and XP Pro. I want
to use it GoBack because of XP System Restore limitations for any boot
problems.

Thanks

I recently got Norton Systemworks (free after rebate) and wanted to
use GoBack. But the install program stated that it can only protect
drives that are detected by the standard bios at boot. I do not
believe that it includes the drives that I'm using, which are two Sata
drives in raid-0. So I didn't install it. Maybe I should give it
another try. Hopefully someone else can report.

I have an Asus nForce chipset, so the P4C800-E might have the Sata
drives better integrated into the main bios? Or, maybe it would work
anyway even on mine. I'll watch this thread.

I have used GoBack and found it does work well if a program install
fouls up your system. It even helped me on a bad driver install as
well. But, you have to uninstall GoBack if your installing windows
updates, no protection there. I also found GoBack uses alot more hard
drive space for backups, so lots of free space is a must.
System Restore works, but I had it fail on me a few times requiring a
complete re-install of windows. If you use GoBack disable System
Restore, they will work together, but the free space on you hard drive
will dissappear fast.
Now I have Ghost and a couple of extra hard drives. I just keep and
update an image of my WinXP drive to another drive.

I've never had to remove GoBack when installing Windows updates. Everything
flows smoothly. But if you're wanting to do a repair install of XP, or use
Partition Magic to convert your OS file system GoBack must be disabled. At
least that's what my system reports to me. But I agree....it's a great
product.

Good info!
GoBack is quicker to use then Ghost. I may install GoBack again and
use it with Ghost.

I read that GoBack doesn't work with Sata drives or any drives that
aren't recognized by the main Bios. Anyone know if this is correct?

Update: Using Nortons GoBack with single Sata and XP Pro. Great results.
