P4C800-E No Drive Activity Light With SATA

Hi,

Just installed P4C800-E Board with Raptor SATA drive. Connected drive
activity led to IDE Drive activity post terminals on board. Led blinks once
or twice up at boot but does not indicate any SATA Drive activity.

That is correct. There is no activity light when using SATA drives.

There is here and AFAIK there should be. Turn the HDD connector around.

I disagree. I am connected to the ICH5-R with a pair of Raptors in Raid 0
and my HD led works fine with disk activity.

Make sure the cable is not on backwards.

Yes.

I have no P-ATA HD's but the activity light does flash when it accesses my
SATA drive. and i dont have any raid setup.

Hi, I also have a Raptor RAID 0 SATA setup. When I access my SATA
array, I see no drive light activity either. But when I activate
(read from / write to) the IDE drive on IDE channel ... I get the
light.

I guess this could be normal. Good question. Anyway, others with
your Raptor RAID 0 SATA array share your experience.

which raid interface? Intel or Promise?

I get hd led indication raid 0 on the Intel no problem.

I am on the Intel SATA without using any RAID.
No drive activity light with this configuration
