Norton Products - Norton Internet Security

Why is it that with all the sophisticated products that they produce,
Symantec cannot produce effective software to clean their own products from
an operating system.

I have tried absolutely everything to uninstall Norton Internet Security
from a machine running XP Home. Everytime I try to reinstall. (Yes believe
it or not my friend still wants it reinstalling) it fails at config.Msi I
would be grateful if anyone has any advice on how to overcome this problem
(apart from a complete reinstall)

I have searched for and tried every conceivable utility on the Symantec
site.

There are details on Norton Site of how to do a manual uninstall /
completely remove.
At least I found it some months ago when I had to completely remove NIS 2004

If you used the proper version of Symclean for your particular version
and still have the problem, you need to contact Symantec directly.
You can also try the Norton newsgroups symantec.support.

I have experiecned the exact same freaking frustrating problems that Brain Burgess has experienced with removing, then reinstalling, failed installation on Config.MSI. I have spent countless hours trying all of the cascading "Try This' forms on Symantec to fix, but still fails to install. Symantec help area really didn't help me. May just give up and go to McAffe (sp?) security. I will try cleanup Symclean as Jupito suggests.Thanks...now I at least know I'm not the only frustrated Symantec customer!

You need to delete EVERYTHING symantec( providing NAV is your only sysmantec
product) I mean using regedt32, Local machine, Local user, system
information,etc. Then, it will reinstall.
