Norton is default over AVG. Want AVG as default to scan a file

Right now if I wish to scan a file.

Right click the file then left click run Norton for it to work..
My Norton has expire. So I wish to use AVG- the free version.
I have installed AVG program already on my windows xp computer.

But I don't see run any AVG which I have installed.

So how can I make it so that I can right click a file and run AVG will show
up on the menu to left click to run it. Thanks.
Right now there is no AVG there when I right click the file. Only Norton.

By the way how to I make AVG scan mp3s? It seems it only scans *.exe or
certain extension file names? So does this mean that I don't have to worry
about scanning mp3s? That I will not get virus or worms using/playing mp3s?

Thanks.

Expired Norton is 'still' installed? If you have no more use for
Norton, I would uninstall AVG, then uninstall Norton. Scan the
system and registry for any trace of Norton including Live Update.
Delete everything in windows\temp. Reboot between each step. Then
install AVG.
But I don't see run any AVG which I have installed.

All of my AVs, EZ, Avast and AVG are selectable from the
right-click menu.

You appear to be missing this entry in the registry.

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\CLASSES\Folder\shellex\ContextMenuHandlers\AVG
Shell Extension]
@="{1E2CDF40-419B-11D2-A5A1-002018648BA7}"

Each of my AVs have a similar reg entry under this key.

I would NOT attempt to insert the above key. Something has prevented
AVG from building this entry.

You may want to wait a bit for one of the experts here to confirm, or
provide their guidance.

If and when MP3's become a 'potential' target, 'all' AV companies
will add the extension to the scan list. The danger involved is
what you use to DL MP3's and whether you 'share' MP3s. Otherwise,
play away.

Your welcome.
