Does AVG scan mp3s?

How can I scan mp3s using AVG software?

When I scan it seems that mp3s are not reconized as a file.

Why is that?

How do I scan mp3 files then?

Cause sometimes they will contain worms or viruses right?

Thanks

Well technically any file can contain virus code however that code
needs to be executed in order to run and AFAIK MP3 does not execute
any of its contents like a program would execute. I might be wrong but
I have never heard of any virus' in MP3s

I go to Windows Explorer then highlight my mp3 file(s) right click then
click Test with AVG from the drop down menu. It then scans the highlighted
files. Just done this to make sure I'm right

I use AVG 7.0 and WindowMe

Don't think so.

When the bad guys figure out how to execute a virus from within
an MP3, AV companies will change their programs to automatically
scan them. Until they do, it is basically a waste of time. However,
if you are using any form of P2P to DL with, all bets are off on
whether your system is safe, regardless of whether the MP3 is
infected.

Data filetypes (especially widely used and exchanged data filetypes) are
only as safe as the application that you use to make use of that data.

Avoiding "Windows Media Player" may do more for your security
concerns than scanning MP3's, merely because it is a target in the
same way that "Outlook Express" is a target for many e-mail data
embedded malware programs.

IMO if you use P2P you deserve everything you get.
