Norton Internet Security- no connection

I have a new PC with Norton Internet Security, but I found that in
order to connect to the internet, I need to disable Norton. I can't
seem to find anything on Symantec's site, so I'm posting this here. I'm
wondering what the point of that software is if with it on you get no
internet connection, and to get to the internet you need to disable the
software, which begs the question why install it in the first place, in
other words, what does this software do other than protect you from the
internet by simply blocking it?

You probably need to configure the NIS Firewall as that is probably what is
blocking your connection.
Look in the logs/blocked connections.
It may be that when you first connected, a NIS msg popped up and you
inadvertently clicked 'block/disallow'.
This 'type' of software, leastways Anti Virus and Firewall is a necessity
these days, NIS also includes a spam filter
Its also likely that your NIS maybe only a 60day version and you have to pay
a yearly subscription for updates after that

It sounds like a problem with the rules. I'd go in the Firewall config,
highlight and remove all of the rules and then do a program scan so it can
create all new rules. See if that solves your problem.
