Norton Internet Security install failed

I recently downloaded NIS2004 and I cannot get it to
install. I constantly get a Setup Error "Installation
failed..." during my installation. The failure always
occurs at the "update component registration.." of the
installation. I spent time with the support folks at
symantec to try to solve my problem which they suspected
was an incomplete install of a prior version. They
helped me remove any evidence of any straggling symantec
or norton files. They had me do a clean boot
installation as well.

I still get this error.

Symantec suggests that the problem may be with MIS
Installer.

I have downloaded and installed ALL XP updates available.

My computer is a Dell running WP Professional.

Anyone have any ideas? This is most frustrating.

Recently downloaded? Where did you get it? If you got it somewhere else
than from Symantec then it may be damaged on that site!

I definitely purchased the program at the Symantec site.

Norton Internet Security must have Terminal Services
running for the install to complete successfully.
Right Click My Computer, Manage, Expand Services
tree and verify that Terminal Services is started and it's
Start mode is Automatic.
