Norton Internet Security 2005

Well, my Norton Antivirus 2005 scanner won't scan for
virusses anymore after I installed the spyware-remover.
Uninstalling the spyware-remover has not solved my
problem (

You have the same problem, or...?

I've not seen this issue. I do have a system with both NIS 2005 and
Microsoft Antispyware on it, but have not yet removed Microsoft Antispyware
to see whether it has this effect.

What has Norton's support had to say about how to fix this?

Well, I've checked Symantecs supportpages, but so far
nothing about NIS 2005 and MSAS.

Maybe my problem is caused by the fact that I installed
NIS 2005 AFTER MSAS? I had AVG v. 6 running when I
installed MSAS.

I've also observed that RegCleaner won't start and this
program was also installed afterwards????

I have MSAS running on another PC with no problems. On
this PC I have an old Norton AV Corporate Edition and
Zonealarm firewall and there is no problem here.

Strange??? It's only the AV scanning of NIS 2005 that
doesn't work :-(

I can't remember the order of the installs on my system--it is a virtual PC
running Windows 2000 SP4--I suspect Microsoft Antispyware came first,
however, since the purpose of the VPC is to test that against "bad" sites,
and I added NIS 2005 trial to see what the interactions would be.

I wonder whether you inadvertently blocked some piece of NIS via the
Microsoft Antispyware alerts? I've seen people report that such blocks
carry over an uninstall, and am skeptical, but not sure what the mechanism
is that is involved.

I would think that a reinstall of NIS over itself, a repair install, would
fix this, but I also have a severe distrust of the install uninstall process
of recent Norton consumer products.
