Cannot reinstall this program. Keep getting Error 1722.

Have tried all solutions on Symantec support site amd also
re registering MSI but still cannot install program. It
stops at SymEventDrv every time.

Win XP Home SP1
PCWorld Athlon PC

Ian:

Log on as an Admin gp member.
Uninstall all Symantec programs via CPanel: Add/Remove Programs.
Make a restore point
Very carefully do a search and delete within the registry for all of the
following values:
Symantec
Norton
NAV
Reboot

Make a new restore point.
Now try to install NIS
 
Try installing from safe mode f8.
(You might get some errors, but still should install)
