Norton Ghost

Hi,

I run a network. It has 10 windows xp pro machines on a
windows nt4 domain.

The company want an imaging tool so they can image their
desktops should a hardisk fail. If they have to rebuild a
machine, they want it to be rebuilt from the server over
the network.

They want the images to be stored on a server.

Would ghost 2003 do this?.

Cheers

James

It would, but you'd probably be in violation of the license agreement.

Perhaps. I would point to Drive Image Pro for a solution.
....seems it's called something else now...

I'd have to buy multiple copies to keep the license
correct.

I was just wondering if that program would do what I
needed it to.

I'll take a look at drive pro.

THanks

It is supposed to work - no license issue.
Thing is, if you try to Ghost with the retail version, it
will fail (can't violate the license if it doesn't work).
If you work in a corp environment and use the corporate
select XP, and you use the latest version of Ghost, it is
supposed to work and is legal in the context that you
mention.
If you buy computers in bulk with OEM XP and don't bother
to rebuild, you're out of luck.
At my company,we wipe the new drives and rebuild them with
corporate select CD.

Ghost 7.5 may be better for what you are trying to do.
You can install the virtual boot partition on existing
systems and do all your backup's remotely using the Ghost
console.

Ghost 2003 is designed more for home users who want to
create an image of their hard drive or upgrade hard drives.

For image deployment and system backup you are better off
using the corporate version and the ghost console.
