XP and GHOST

Can Ghost create backup images across an XP network?

I have two machines networked to each other, and use them that way
often.

I would like to try Ghost to generate backup images of the two c
drives on the same backup HDD - namely a second HDD on one of the
machines.

This would mean that Ghost must find a target drive/directory on the
other machine (across my network).

I borrowed a copy of Ghost to try this as a test and quickly
discovered that the backup image cannot be generated on the remote
drive. Ghost demands user/domain/password info. I have no passwords
or domains. I tried user w/o domain or password, and it fails.

I returned the copy of Ghost, figuring it will not do it - now I
wonder if some other backup program can do what I want to do.
Or maybe my problem is within my XP settings?

Anyone?

Thanks

If you are talking about Symantec/Norton Ghost, it is NOT a Microsoft product.

Here is the [place to ask; symantec.support.network.ghost.general

The Ghost Boot Disk you were given was NOT setup for your environment.

Yes Ghost will do what you want to do: Create the backup image on
another networked computer.

1. On the other computer, create a shared folder with read/write access
from everyone.
2. on the main Ghost computer, when selecting the target drive/folder,
you will navigate to the other computer.
3. When prompted for the domain/password, use the workgroup name,
probably MSHOME. For user, use the user name of the other computer.
4. All this works fine with Ghost 9 or Ghost 10.

Also, see the information and/or post problems at the Rad Ghost user
support forum:
