Norton Ghost

Hey, I know this is not the forum for discussing about
Norton Ghost utility. Any one knows Newsgroup on Norton
Ghost? I have a question: The ghost utility works fine on
similar hardware platform. How do I install the cloned
image onto a Compaq PC that was ghosted (cloned) from a
DELL PC? Because, after cloning onto DELL the drivers
issue arises and system doesn't boot at all.

I'll assume you are cloning a windows system. Did you sysprep the image
before you made the clone image?

There is no group (on Easynews at least) specific to Ghost, but one of the
symantec.support.* groups should offer some help.

Your Dell image is not really a good way to "restore" your Compaq PC. A
fresh install or Compaq restore disk is advisable.

Yes, it is W2K server. I guess, sysprep is meant for
identical hardware systems. In my case the two boxes are
different. (DELL and Compaq brands, one is Xeon the other
is P4 server with different kind of system boards
altogether).

If it doesn't BSOD right off the bat, You can add the drivers in a folder
and then just add the pointers to those drivers into the registry at
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\devicepath

watch for ACPI issues.
