Norton Ghost 10 And Nero 6

Guest

I have just recently purchased Norton Ghost 10 and found that it's not
compatable with Vista, keeps telling me to upgrade...Upgrade to what?...Nero
Image is also not acceptable(Not sure about the entire program)...Is there a
way to solve these issues or must we now wait for Norton Ghost 11...Surely
these companies must have known about Vista and planning the programs
compatability....

Rest assured that once Microsoft releases the final version of Windows Vista
Symantec, Ahead and other software companies will release new versions of
their software to work with Vista.

.... and all of the products we already own will have to be replaced...

Most of mine already won't install (run) on this beta. If it is like XP any
replacements purchased in the first few months will require endless updates
until all the wrinkles are ironed out.

Thanks for the response...Well it seems to me that the products that we own
now that work on WinXP ect, will have to stay as they are until they come out
with the Final Vista...(That's if we are to purchase the Vista OS)...So I
won't be buying anymore until such time the products are Vista
compliant...but will update where I can...

Question:...Will the Final Vista be available as an OS?...OR do we have to
buy the PC in order to get the Vista OS??...

You will be able to buy it (though I am not sure what you will buy) (Vista
will be upgradable after purchase as all version code will be present), and
if XP is an example, at least when I bought mine, you paid for XP and
received about twice the value in other products at the local superstores
like Best Buy and CompUSA.
It will be interesting to see how they handle the initial purchase from the
store. How will they know which version you paid for?

Yes, it would be interesting to see what happens in a case like that...When
you say upgradable, are you refering:
From Windows XP...
Vista after Purchase or upgradable from RCI,

Upgradable from Vista Home to Pro, Ultimate etc. Not sure upgrade is
correct though I have seen it used, like a lot of software that includes all
versions and if you install a lesser version you go to the website and buy
another key to 'unlock' additional features.

Thanks for the Info...
I would have to be very careful making decisions of which edition of Vista
to purchase...So far I would go on the safe side and go for the 'Pro' Version
which seems to be sufficient...
Now the Vista beta 2, is that on the level of Home or Pro?...

PS: Colin, you don't have to have anymore 'Bloody Mary's' I won't ask such
stupid questions as I did in the other thread...

Not sure, but probably will have something to do with the Product Key
determining which version to install.

You received the Vista Ultimate.
Still wonder how windows will know what version you buy at the retailer,
unless they issue variable keys depending on the purchase.

Many thanks for your time in responding to my questions, I now know a lot
more of what's taking place as far as Vista goes(Although it's just the
beginning)...
You hear of too many rumours of what is going to happen ect, with Vista and
what's not going to happen...But now I have a better Idea from this forum,
and what to expect from the new Vista OS...I'm looking forward to the 'Final
Cut'

Don't worry about it. You have to have been hanging out in here for a while
to get the real humor. Nothing meant by it.

You will likely get Home Basic in the retail sku or preinstalled on basic
machines. My guess is Home Premium will be preinstalled on media center
machines. Both can be upgraded to Ultimate on the Instant Upgrade website.

A Business sku would be available at retail but I am not clear about how
Enterprise is gotten. All of this will undoubtedly change radically by the
time of rtm.

I'm sure resellers will want some mechanism for sharing in the upgrade
revenues as well.

"> I'm sure resellers will want some mechanism for sharing in the upgrade

Still, they never have gotten it with any other software after the initial
purchase.

Perhaps there will be all versions available in the retail stores and only
those who make changes to their computers that facilitate the premium
versions (i.e. add a TV card) will need to buy the upgrades.

Are you mainly using the Vista64 or Vista86. Not many of the x64 group over
here. Did you have any particular issues with the Vista64 install. I have
had so few of my programs install on Vista86 I shudder to think of the
possibility that none would install on Vista64. Thanks in advance for the
info. Also, is there a spell checker in Vista64? :)

I installed Windows Vista Ultimate Beta 2 version becuase it have everything
that
both Windows Vista Home Premium and Home Basic combined. I'll buy the Vista
Ultimate version just for this reason if not others such as enhanced music
and video support.

I'll bet that Microsoft may, when it releases the final product should
include all the versions on DVD rather than box each separately and let the
user choose which version that we want to install rather than have Microsoft
dictate to the hapless user what they think is best for them. Power to the
users!

No, if you have XP Home on your Best Buy Beauty you can go back and buy an
XP Pro Upgrade. That's what may be changing.
