I just got a new notebook with Windows xp installed. I got a free month of Norton Antivirus with this computer. I had a free verson of AVG Antivirus on my old notebook which I was using windows 2000. AVG worked good with 2000. My question is........should I purchase Norton for XP or will a free version of AVG or Free McAfee work as good? Thanks for some info..

Like Windows vs *nix, it's almost a religious issue.

AVG worked for you before - it should work for you now.

I forgot to mention. I do already have a firewall, spyware search and destroy, spyblaster and ad-aware 6.0. The salesman was trying to tell me that Norton detects viruses in XP that other virus protectors dont find.......

Greetings --

You'll find that using AVG offers good protection and more
frequent definition file updates, without causing the slight but
noticeable performance hit that NAV causes.
