Norton AntiVirus doesn't work.

Okay, I'll admit naivete, but anytime before when Norton found a virus
I clcked the boxes & the bugger was quarantined, killed, removed,
whatever.

So last week, I go through the routine and Norton takes me through all
the scan and remove and fix procedures...and at the end, informs me
I'm still infected.

I've got to the Nortin web site....seems there's no way I can get any
help or support from them. I've tried to follow the
instructions...disabling recovery etc.... but every time I go through
what they're telling me is the removal process I end up still
infected.

Am I an idiot? If so, fine. What do idiots do to get uninfected?

Anti-Virus software isn't always able to remove viruses/trojans.
Sometimes you'll have to download a tool specifically for removing an
individual virus. Check on Symantecs website to see if such a tool
exists for the particular virus you have trouble with.

See, I've done that. Go to the site that tells me what to do. Go through
all the steps. And end up with a notice "You're still infected," and no
instructions to do anything else.

Go to www.pandasoftware.com and try to do a scan online, this site
disinfected some files that Norton couldn't even detect (according to Norton
my computer was clean and panda found 9 infected files and cleaned them)

If your operating system has a system restore function (WinME and
WinXP) turn off system restore, reboot, run your AV again and see what
it reports. If clean turn on system restore and reboot.
