I have been running Norton anti virus for quite some
time. I just recently upgraded my lap top to XP. Now
when I try to run Norton Anti Virus, I get an error that I
am operating Windows XP and this program is not designed
for XP. When I try to turn on the auto protection and
email checking I get error saying that it can not find
C:\Prgogram files\Norton Anti Virus\NAVAPSVC.EXE. Any
suggestions?

What version of Norton's Anti Virus you are running? It
may not be compatible with Windows XP, you may have to
upgrade the Anti Virus program.

What version of Norton Antivirus were you using? You'll need
either version 2002, 2003 or 2004 to work with Windows XP.

You're not goin to like this, but this is well-known
phenomena relating to Symantec's crap AV-software.

The solution that you should have followed was to
uninstall Norton BEFORE upgrading to XP - if you did this
yourself the error is an easy one to make but if you paid
someone to do the upgrade for you, i'd consider throwing
your laptop through their window because now you are
going to have to back-up your data, reinstall you old
operating system, then install the XP upgrade and THEN
install Norton.

The alternative is to consider using different AV-
software, although there are no guarantees it will work
as it depends on the level of damage Norton has done to
your registry.

N.B: Don't consider following the suggestions on
Symantec's website that suggests fiddling with your
registry settings - their FAQs are flawed and cause even
more damage!
