Norton Anti Virus & Slow Boot

NAV causes my boot to take 2 minutes. Symantec's site says update & the
problem will go away, but I did and it doesn't. Anyone have any ideas?

In the grand scheme of things, maybe 2 minutes is OK. But XP is supposed to
be the fastest loading OS yet. Now it takes longer to boot than before the
upgrade from Win98.

If you are running XP on hardware that was old enough to have Win98
installed on it, two minutes to boot is not bad at all.

As XP "learns" your system and pushes some of its initialization to the
background, the boot will go a little faster. But with your old hardware,
you can't expect much improvement.

BTW, MS never claimed XP to be the "fastest loading OS yet." Maybe you
THOUGHT it would be, but they never said it.

I believe that Microsoft did make the claim that XP is the fastest loading
Windows yet. However, as you correctly pointed out, in a computer that's old
enough to have been running Windows 98, you have to expect that XP will take
longer to load.

I have a reasonably modern (15 months old) PC and XP Home loads in 31
seconds - that includes the time needed to start NAV and ZAP.
