Norton Anti-virus Auto-protect not functioning

R

Ray Yiu

I have installed the Norton Utilities 2003, including Norton anti-virus in
both systems WinME & WinXP. But the auto-protect is not functioning.

1) I have scanned for anti-virus but no virus was found.
2) I have uninstalled the Norton Utilities 2003 and re-installed. Same case
happens.
Pls suggest what to do.

My computer has been infected with W32.Blaster.Worm and I run FixBlast.exe
to remove the worm - some files are deleted. However, afterwards, it is
found that it is unable to connect to the internet, send/receive e-mail even
though the system shows the broadband line is connected. Even re-install the
Windows, the problem still there. I would like to know how to solve the
problem. How to find out what files have been deleted?

You may be better off contacting www.Symantec.com for support, that
said.......
Did you install NU after infection? if so and you cannot connect, NU will
not have been updated with latest virus deffinitions and as such may not be
able to detect. There is an option on the Symantec site to instigate an
online scan, I would suggest that you run this.
Did you follow all instructions on their site for removal of worm?,
including references to files that the worm alters/adds?
Is your XP connection firewall turned on?

I re-install NU too after I found that it cannot connect to internet.
I did follow instructions on Symantec website to remove the worm.
I have checked the internet connection in both cases - XP connection
firewall On/Off.

Maybe I will give the Norton Antivirus and change to PC-Cillin. Any comment
?

If you cannot connect, using a different AV app will not help
If yr saying NU cannot connect to update then it will not find the latest
virus.
Though if you can connect thro IE then as prev suggested use symantec on
line scan
The WinXP firewall should be enabled
