Norton 2003 Firewall Problem

Just formatted laptop and me firewall doesnt seem to auto detect any
programs when i try opening them even though auto detect is on.The hundreds
of times before this a pop up used to come up askin if i wanna allow access
however this no longer happens and even allowing programs to gain access
manuelly doesnt always seem to work i e got everything setup msn internet
explorer etc tc but when i manuelly configure access for steam & halflife 2
it fails to allow access.Any ideas ive tried uninstalling then reinstall

Are you using XP and / or SP2?

Do you have the built in Windows firewall enabled? 2 x Firewalls
active at the same time can cause havoc, disable the windows version.

Have you downloaded all the updates for NIS 2003 there is a lot?

Are you sure its Norton Firewall? Disable it and see if you get access
for your games with it switched off, (obviously don't leave it off
just prove its Norton)
