Northwind Option Group Alpha Selector

Hi I recently copied successfully the customer phonelist form and necessary
macro from the Northwind sample and modified it for use with our budget
listing I did this to get the alphabet buttons down the bottom and it works
wonderfully however I need to change this form so that the data that is
displayed cannot be modified by the user Ie they can only view not edit. As
soon as I try to achieve this by changing the Allow edits property to No or
lock the records my alpha buttons down the bottom stop working Is there any
way around this one of the errors I recieve is "Budgets cannot apply the
filter because all the records are locked" there must be a way to have
filters and stop users modifying my data. I checked the Northwind database as
the Customer Phone list form is what mine was bsed on and it's data can be
modified can anyone tell me how to change that.

Any help appreciated please keep in mind I am fairly new to access.

Mel,

For each of the data controls in the Detail section of the form, set the
Enabled property to No and the Locked property to Yes.
