Normal Template Changed Message

Each time I close Microsoft Word I get a message "Changes have been made that
effect the global template, Normal. Do you want to save those changes?" As
far as I know I am not making changes. How do I stop making changes, and stop
this message? How do I reset the Normal template to its default state?

Thanks Suzanne. It was Norton Antivirus, thank goodness for that because the
other problem causes look quite daunting to resolve.
