NORMAL.DOT TEMPLATE resets after every Word session - How to fix?

I am running Office 2003 on Windows XP. I change the default font to Arial
thus changing my Normal.dot template, save my document, and close Word. When
I return to using Word, the default font is changed back to Times Roman. Why
does this happen and how can I change the default font to Arial for good?

If you have Acrobat 7 installed, it prevents Normal.dot from being saved at
exit.

That's it! I have Acrobat 7.0 installed. Thank you Suzanne. Should I
mention something to those wonderful folks at Adobe? And, why hasn't
Microsoft bought them yet or at a minimum, created their own PDF-like file
maker?

The decision to screw up the working of Word is a deliberate design choice
by Adobe - by all means add your complaint to them or it will never be
corrected.
