normal.dot popups when close Word 2000

I use Windows XP and EVERY TIME i close word 2000 i get a pop up box saying
"this file in in use by another application or user. (C;\ Documents and
Settings\ . . . \Normal.dot) then, after i click on the x in that box, the
save as box pops up wanting me to save normal.dot in C:\Documents and
Settings\ . . . \Application Data\Microsoft\Template\, when i close this box
the final box pops up saying "Changes have been made that affect the global
template, Normal.dot. Do you want to save the changes?" I have to choose no
for it to close and be done. How can i prevent this from happening?

I don't have an answer for you, but the same darn thing happens to us and we
have Office 2003. Every single time we close Word, you see Normal.dot open
and close in the background. I will tell you that when I had
Workshare/Deltaview and Softwise loaded on my computer I was getting the same
error message as you are getting when I closed Word. Since my computer died
and I have a new one I have not loaded those programs yet so I don't get the
error message, but I do get Normal, opening and closing. Any computer we
load Workshare/Deltaview on gets that error message you have. Do you have
that program loaded?
