normal.dot not being created when opening word -multiple desktops

Hi all.. only just started happening but seems across all/most users..
We have Adobe writer 7.0 on a few desktops, but it appears to be happening
even on the desktops without this application...
MS O2k + XP...
following a few posts in other forums, using 'Save All' instead of 'Save' or
'Save As' does correct the issue for that instance.. but I don't really see
having to advise all users to install that function and use it specifically
to update template changes, as a substantial fix!... anyone know of a
permanent fix?

This is an appalling problem caused by the Adobe add-in. Add your complaint
to the many directed at Adobe. In the meantime, see the last part of
