Normal.dot changing the default font settings

I have gone through all of the settings to change the default settings of the
main Normal.dot template and each time the change never takes effect. It
always reverts back to Times New Roman. Why does that happen? I want Word to
always open with Garamond Font.


Also, what could cause the normal.dot's filename to be changed.?

Why is it in the Office11 startup file?

It's possible that Normal.dot is not being saved. If you have Acrobat 7, see
the last section of
http://www.gmayor.com/lose_that_adobe_acrobat_toolbar.htm.

There should never be a copy of Normal.dot in any Startup folder. You should
delete that one. The correct location of Normal.dot is in the folder
selected for "User templates" on the File Locations tab of Tools | Options.
