Normal.dot and Add-in option.

Hello,

I am getting the following error when starting Microsoft Word – the global
template, Normal.dot, is already open as an add-in program.

I have erased the normal.dot, so word can recreate it. It open fine the
first time, however I get that error message again. I am using Word 2003 on
Windows XP.

Please help – I am getting tired of the error message and click OK.

Thanks.
Elaine.

Look under Tools > Templates and Add-Ins...
Do you see Normal.dot loaded as an Add-In?
It should not be. If it is, select it and the full path for it should show
up below.

Also look under Tools > Options > File Locations
Are your User Templates Folder and your Startup folder the same? They should
_not_ be. The startup folder should be outside the templates folder.

For more on the different kinds of templates, tabs on the file new dialog,
and locations of templates folders see
