non-Microsoft operating systems ?

Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional
Version: 5.00.2195 Service Pack 4

....this has served me well but I would like
some information about "non-Microsoft" operating
systems...what are they?

Anyone here with some experience in this matter?

Any help or advice appreciated.

They are operating systems not made by Microsoft. For example LINUX and FreeBSD and Apple are non-microsoft operating systems. Try googling on them.
