How do you find a program, that Microsoft pop-ups keeps telling me are old
files, and cannot continue a download/update? I have done Search Files -
nothing there-, I have gone to the Regedit, and done a Find, and nothing
there. Where else should I look, or what other means are there to find a
lost file? I need to get this program/file out of my system so I can update
to a program. I go to the Control Panel, Add/Remove, and it will not allow
me to remove an earlier version of this program, again saying that a later
version exist, which I cannot find.

Thanks Ted. I am trying to update my Adobe Reader to 7.0.7. . When I
download the update, it goes through the install process, then is
interrupted by the following pop-up. "WINDOWS INSTALLER, This patch
could not be opened. Verify that the patch exist and that you can access
it, or contact the application vendor to verify that this is a valid windows
installer patch package".
I tried going into my control panel, add/remove, and remove the current
version that shows there, ver. 7.0.5, but a pop-up appears that says,
"This patch package could not be opened. Verify that the patch package
exist and that you can access it, or verify it is a valid Windows Installed
patch package". The Adobe 7.0.5 in in my control panel, and 7.0 is not.
However, 7.0 is on my desktop and opens Adobe documents. The version 7.0.5
cannot be found in a search.
I have never had this problem before. The Adobe ver. 7.0 is working and
doing a search, it does show up in my system. At one time, and only once, I
got a pop up that told me I had a older version of 7.0.7 and it could not
install.
Thanks for any help you may can offer. I know this is confusing, but I have
explained it the best I can.
