I have been unable to solve the problems I specified in my previous
post (Two Problems.) Both the Search function on Windows Explorer,
and the Help and Support function from the Start button are apparently
corrupted and do not work.

I think there is a way to reinstall Windows XP without destroying any
applications and/or data. I searched Microsoft.com and found nothing
appropriate. My system is partitioned. The last time I was forced to
reinstall, I was assured that if I specified drive C, no other
partitions would be affected. That advice proved to be inaccurate.

Can someone point me toward a Microsoft document that would help solve
the problem? All responses would be appreciated. Thanks.
