NOD32 VS Kaspersky. Comments? Suggestions?

I'm currently running NOD32 and while it has it's quirks (that profile thing
drives me nuts) it seems pretty decent, especially compared to bloated Norton
crap.

I'm thinking of jumping ship over the Kaspersky because they seem to do very
well in tests that count, not PC Magazine tripe, but real tests. Although they
do great in PCMag tests, at least last time I looked.
Kaspersky also seems to be right on top of things as far as new viri are
concerned.

I can see that the group seems to support NOD32 and I can agree it seems pretty
good to me.

But how about Kaspersky?

One last question, do any of these programs allow me to do an on demand scan of
other systems on my network.
IOW a simple P2P system, the computers that show up in Network Places?

tia.

I always use Virus Bulletin because they have an up to date maintained
wildlist they use for testing.

I have both Kaspersky and NOD32. As for which is better for you it
depends. KAV is much better at detecting trojans and other such
malware then NOD is. NOD is primarily an antivirus, it has always been
weak in trojan detection. I will say though that in recent months ESET
has started to improve NOD's trojan detection. KAV is excellent in its
trojan detection and on tests I have seen will regularly outperform a
number of programs that are strictly antitrojans. As an antivirus, I
believe KAV and NOD are probably about equal, they are both updated
regularly and will do a good job of catching a virus before it can
infect your system. Neither is perfect however and the best defense is
still you and practicing safe hex as it were. NOD is also quite a bit
lighter on your systems resources than KAV if that is a concern. As
for the question about scanning other systems on your network I do not
know but I am sure someone else will have the answer to that.

As far as that is concerned, if a shared folder or directory on a machine
on the network can be mapped by the scanning machine, then a virus scanner
on a scanning machine can scan the resource. Any decent AV should be able
to do it.

But the best approach is that each machine on the network should have its
own AV application doing the scanning.

Thanks to all who have replied.

Great information!

FWIW I think I am going to give the trial version of Kaspersky a whirl and see
how I like it.
