No Windows Sound for one user

James

am experiencing a strange problem with my windows
sounds. It doesn't play any windows sounds for one of my
user accounts, but it does in the other accounts.

The account that it doesn't play the sound on is the main
account that i use, the account that i install software
from etc. And i just get a windows internal BEEP. BUT..
audio video sounds etc are all playing fine through the
speakers, its just the windows sounds.

I recently installed a 4.1 sound card around the time of
the problem, but have since upgraded my mobo with built
in 5.1 sound so am not using the 4.1 sound card any more.

I have been told at work that this may be a bug in the
service pack, but i seam to remember this happening a
while after I installed the service pack.

I have tried to turn the sounds schemes off and on,
checked the levels and made sure that nothing is muted.

If anyone has any ideas, it would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers Kelly,

Yeah worked a treat, I just went into regedit and deleted
the Key in HKEY_CURRENT_USER root and it restored the
default. works a treat now.!!

Been buggin me for months.. only just got around to
sorting it
