No Voice or Video

Prior to the recent security update my JVC DV 500 cam worked great with Messenger. Now the audio/video tuning wizards recognizes the video (can be seen running) but when I go into camera settings MSN says the cam is not connected or I am in video chat with someone else. I get basic help tips but nothing seems to work. Definately need help before I ask for my money back and look into another OS!

My repeated advice... ditch Messenger for audio/video and try something
else. Whether it be Netmeeting, Eyeball Chat, Yahoo Messenger etc.

Greetings Tony,

Which OSs have you been looking into?

Assuming you're using MSN Messenger 6, there are actually two different video functions
within MSN Messenger 6.1 running on Windows XP. The first, the "Webcam" function, which is
tested by the "Web Camera Settings" dialog, basically supports actual "Webcam"s only. It
does not support DV cameras, or video card inputs. The second, the "Video Conference"
function is tested by the Audio/Video Tuning Wizard, supports most devices including DV
cameras and video card inputs and uses the same functionality as Windows Messenger does.

As such to use your DV camera, if you're not already, you'll need to open up a conversation
window, click the Actions menu, and then use the 'Start Video Conference' option. Take note
that both sides will need to be using Windows XP for this to work.
