No video, no sound?!?!

I installed a ASUS A7V8X mobo and 512 megs PC2700 Ram, AMD XP 2400
CPU, ATI 8X video card. Turned system on and fans work, lights light
up but no sound nor video. I changed out the power supply to a new
Antec 400 Watt job and got same resuults. I have changed to three
different video cards (they're all 1.5 volts) and sitll no sound no
video. The RAM and CPU came from a working machine so I'm down to
replaciing the RAM, and if necessary the CPU I guess. Anybody out
there got any ideas???? I'd appreciate the help.
Thanks,
Bob

JAD, I guess I don't follow your question. When you say OB are you
talking about jumpers on On Board? If so, I set the board up according
to the book. If you're referring to the CMOS I can't get any video so
I can't change a thing there. I just got through building an identical
system in my old full tower and it works like a charm.

Bobbie,

Have you tried reseating the RAM and CPU? If so, and still no success, you
might have a bad motherboard. HTH.

ahhh no post video ....sorry...no beep codes either?
Is that a gold edition with O-n B-oard video and sound?

Yes it has onboard video and sound. One point, when I said no sound
there's not a peep out of the PC speaker.
Thanks,
Bob

ok you have to take out the agp card use the OB video port enter bios//cmos turn off ob video then plug in the new board

JAD, my apologies, there is no onboard video. Since I was getting no
sound from the PC speaker I plugged in the external speaker system and
get a message that I can't decipher due to hearing problems. It says
"System Failed" and then something like "suit the syntax" . I
understand the System Failed part with no problem it's the last part
that coul;d be "shoot the intacts".
Thanks for your help,
Bob

=?iso-8859-1?Q?somebody=AE?=

I have that board and got no video at first power up. It was my first project,
so I called the shop,he suggested trying a pci video card to narrow it down
between the video card and Mb.(they both were new) I tried that and got video
w/pci. I took it in to get a new 8x video card. He looked at it and pushed kind
of hard in my opinion,( I did not want to break it) and we heard a "snap" to
seat the card. It worked fine after that. The slot is kind of tight ! That's
my story. It is a Asus video card btw

JAD

yes...the AGP slots of today are really tight...you should feel a POP when its in right

After removing the mobo and brass studs I checked each stud with a
screw and guess what? One stud was tapped at a severe angle and when I
tightened the screw the stud would move sufficiently to short the
mobo. After replacing said stud everything works fine. Thanks for all
the input.
