No USB or PCI found...

Hi,

Last sunday i decided to give my machine a clean windows (XP with sp2)
installation. During installation I found out my mouse didn't work. I
took an old ps2 mouse and continued (mainly using the keyboard).
Eventualy i found out none of my USB ports or even PCI slots were
functioning. No servervices for eiter one of them were installed.
They're not showing up in the device manager. I've checked my bios for
weird settings, but all seemd fine. I didn't change anything and before

installation all was fine. Later I remebered I didn't see any new found

hardware wizards during the first boot as expected. Does anyone have a
clue how this can be fixed?

Thanks a lot!

Did you remember to install the motherboard chipset utility drivers
immediately after the installation of the operating system?

i did that... I downloaded the latest drivers via my laptop. And
installed them on my desktop, but it didn't work. I've tried resetting
the bios by removing the battery and disconnecting the power but that
didn't work either. There's power to the pci cards and the usb though.
I've tested with an usb-stick with a small led inside and it lid. A pci
card with a blue led at the back lid too.

P.S. I've got an MSI AT4AV Motherboard with an AMD Athlon XP 1800+.
Windows XP Pro Version 2002 with SP2.

Take the PC to a reputable store and have them test the motherboard. Also
try clearing the CMOS (Bios)... you'll find the motherboard manual at MSI's
website. It's usually a matter of changing jumpers for some seconds.

i've found the problem... It turned out to be a buggy PCI-card. After
removing all cards the pc worked fine. I've inserted then one at a time
until the computer failed again. Thanks for the support!!
