No Transport Provider error and MAPISP32.exe error

I have a Windows 2000 machine running Outlook 2000, connected to a
NT4, Exchange 5.5 server. When ever I try to send an email I
immediately get this sent back to me:

Your message did not reach some or all of the intended recipients.

Subject: test
Sent: 3/15/2004 12:44 PM

The following recipient(s) could not be reached:

'(e-mail address removed)' on 3/15/2004 12:45 PM
No transport provider was available for delivery to this
recipient.

Also, when I close Outlook I get this message:

The instruction at "0x3a2712f7" referenced memory at "0x70442dc8".
The memory could not be "read". Click on OK to terminate the program.

I've tried checking the Allow upgrade to larger tables on an archive
folder. I've also tried making a new profile and reinstalling
outlook. I've also tried the outlook /cleanfreebusy.

I think part of the problem was that I opened this account with
OutlookXP at one point. Sending email to exchange users works fine.

Any suggestions?

Do you also have an Internet Mail account in this profile? If so, note that
this is not a supported config in OL2000 and prior and is the most common
cause of the "No Transport Provider" message. You can set up another profile
for Internet mail, or talk to your IT folks about hosting your domain's
Internet mail on the Exchange server, which is preferable.

Yes, it does have an Internet mail account on the profile. It's
strange to me that that would be the problem since we've been running
OL2000 for 4 years and have always had both the Internet and Exchange
on the same profiles. I will give it a shot though. Will I have to
open and close Outlook to check mail on each profile, or will it
automatically check both profiles for mail?

I tried setting up the internet mail and exchange in separate profiles
and it still wouldn't send email.

You've been lucky. :) See MSKB 245446.

You have to open and close Outlook for each profile.
Or - if this is e-mail for your corporate domain, talk to your Exchange
admins about hosting the mail directly on the Exchange server - a much
preferable method for many reasons.

Do you still get the same exact error message? Whose SMTP server are you
using?
