I can send email from Outlook 2000 sp3 as long as I do not have attachments
that are too large. Once I attach a picture or other large attachment to an
email, say over 1mb, I get the following:

Your message did not reach some or all of the intended recipients.

Subject: Perch Lake
Sent: 6/30/2007 12:40 AM

The following recipient(s) could not be reached:

Joe Smith (E-mail) on 6/30/2007 12:41 AM
No transport provider was available for delivery to this
recipient.

Can anyone tell me why this only happens with larger attachments?

Hi Joe,

check your ISP with regard to "message size restrictions".

Some providers do not allow to send messages with an "unlimited size".

I just went through this with verizon to find out that the message size limit
was 8 mb. The emails with 1mb attachments work with their web based email,
but not with outlook.

Bubba, I don't think that this knowledge base article applies because I can
send normal emails to anyone in my contact list, even emails with attachments
less than 1mb. It is just when I try to send them with attachments over 1mb.

Hi Ben,

how huge is your PST file and how huge is your "sent items folder"?

Do you work with a local Outlook installation or with an Exchange account?

If you use Exchange Server, maybe your mailbox has a limitation of "sent
items"?

My .pst is 184mb. My sent items isn't too big, I don't have to scroll to
see them all. I believe that I have a local Outlook account. When I go to
help/about it says corporate or workgroup.

Is my .pst file too large and how can I tell if I work with an exchange
server?

Dear Ben,

your PST is not to large. The maximum size of a PST file is 2 GB (Outlook
98-2002) and minimum 20 GB with Outlook 2003/2007, so the PST file is
definitly not to large.

Until now I have no idea what kind of error could happen with your local
Outlook that ou will get a restriction of 1 MB per email.

If you send this email to yourself, do you get the same problems?

Could you try another freeware provider in your local area, with another
free email address and try to send this over this provider.

Can you receive emails with biger attachments then 1 MB?

I get the same error when I send it to myself.

I have no problem receiving emails over 1mb.

I haven't tried to use another email address. Are you saying that I should
try setting up another account in Outlook using a different email provider,
for instance Yahoo?

right, this is what I would try. Soryy about my english, I am writing from
Germany. For myself it is not clear where is the problem?

It could be Outlook, your ISP or maybe your virus protection software.
Untill now we/you only know that you can send only emails with 1MB, but who
makes this limitation?

If you could use Yahoo and it works with a 2 MB e-mail, you can contact your
(other) ISP, why does he has alimitation.

If you would get the same problem with Yahoo, the problem seems to be on
your PC.

To find which part of the system makes this problem, we have to change one
of the parts.

Could you try it with yahoo?

Your english is fine Oliver.

I know that I can send emails up to 8mb with my current ISP, Verizon. I
just sent a 5mb email using their web based email. So I think it must be my
PC or my Virus protection. I use PC-cillin Internet Security 14. Any idea
what would be wrong with my PC or anti-virus software?
