I do not have a blank slide in my presentation, but when I click through
there is a blank slide. I've checked to make sure that there aren't any
transitions set up. The only thing I noticed differently is in "Slide Sorter
View" there is a star under the slide that the "blank" slide appears in front
of. I tried to highlight the start, right click the start, and search for
information about this star, but I can't find anything.

The star you are referring to is animation schemes.
Click on the star. Then select No Animation.
Now play the slide show again. See if it works this time round.

The star did represent that an animation was present on my slide. Turns out
the animation was connected to the object on the slide and not the slide
itself. In "Normal View" I was able to right click the object and select
"Custom Animation" and from there I was able to Remove the Animation.

When you say blank slides, do you mean black slide and completely nothing, or
blank slide with the background.

If it is a blank slide but you can see the background, check under the
custom animations. See if the first effect is set to On click. If so, set it
to After Previous.
