No traffic lights - no twin screens

Just got new XP Home. No indicators show when logged on to ISP. No traffic lights... no twin monitor screens... show in bottom right task bar (next to clock). Any ideas anyone... please...? :)
 
Make sure the box is checked --
Start/Settings/Network Connections/
Rt-click on connection, Properties, Show icon in Notification area?

Open "Network Connections" in control panel. Right click the connection in
question and tick the "Show icon in notification area when connected" box.
