System restore will not restore to any of the stored dates, goes thru the
procedure and then window comes up saying "Cannot restore to the selected
date", in the process have lost both my CDR and DVD drives (Previously
located as D and E drives respectively), so I cannot imput any discs to
reload the drivers, please can anyone help ?". Have accessed the threads page
and read of simular problems but can't for love of me get the answers , to
the questions asked

Thanks for trying but System Restore goes thru all the motions but when it
reboots same as before , it says cannot restore to selected date, I have
tried it on at least 6 dates. I still have no CDR or DVD drives.

Alls gone quiet have you run out of ideas, have found web site "PC on point"
who have found 370 errors on my PC, and will repair for one off payment of
$37, are they any good and can they be trusted ?.

Certainly not. Take your machine to a professional computer repair shop
(not your local equivalent of BigStoreUSA) and have them diagnose and
fix it. You could be having hardware problems and there is no way an
online site can diagnose that properly. Besides, the very fact that
they "found" all these errors and will "fix" them for money
disqualifies them.

I don't have an answer for you because there just isn't enough
information to give you focused troubleshooting. Someone needs to
actually look at the machine.

Usually, a "Good/Competent" repair shop will ask about your data
backups on any Service Call or inquiry. If they don't ask you about
Personal data being protected - you might think twice about using
their services.

I frequently encounter very irate PC users who have had a minor
problems made worse by inexperienced or marginal technicians.
Sometimes the "Biggest, Messed Up PCs" are ones just back from
a trip to a "Tech-in-a-Box" store.
