No start up on Win XP

On startup, no beeps, no error message, black screen. Monitor works
when tested on another PC. Everything had been working perfectly during
last session yesterday. I tested all connections. Can hear fan and hard
drive spinning. Will not boot on XP CD in CD ROM. Don't know what to
try next.

No boot screens at all? Even with no hard drive or operating system
installed, one can expect to see those screens so this does not sound good.
Repeat the check of all connections (that you've already tried but a repeat
could be worth the time and effort) and then try to boot the system again.

If you can get your hands on another display adapter (aka video card or
display card), install and see if that helps. Perhaps everything is
"working" except the card that sends the video signals to the monitor.

Otherwise, if still stuck, the absence of boot screens could indicate
failure of core components: RAM, CPU, motherboard.
