No spellcheck in OE from MS Office???

Adela

Hello (don't know if there's a more appropriate forum for the following
problem. If there is, please let me know, or could you transfer it for me?
Thanx)

I just installed MS Office XP Professional with Front Page. But it deleted
my free-standing spellcheck in my Outlook Express and didn't replace it
because it came with Outlook, which I don't have. Is there a solution to
change it to OE? Or must I reinstall the free standing spellcheck? I don't
wish to change to Outlook...)

Thank you very much! Adela

The OE group would have been better, but download a free spell check for OE.
I use the Vampirefo spell check and it works fine.

OE 6 does not come with it's own spell check. You need Word or an MS Office
program, pre 2007. The spell checker in Works 4 through 6 will work with OE,
but not other editions. If you do not have such a program, you can download
a free spell check at one of these sites.

Vampirefo Spell Check.

Download it from Major Geeks:
http://www.majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=2952

Or download it from SnapFile:
http://www.snapfiles.com/get/spelloe.html

TinySpell: (Checks the spelling as you type).

Download it here:
http://www.tinyspell.m6.net/ (Checks the spelling as you type).

Hi Bruce and thank you so much! I thought any MS Office (mine is 2002)
provided automatically the spellcheck. I believe the free standing one you
suggest is the one I had and no longer have since I installed the MS Office.
I have Works but not sure what numbers; however, your suggestion seems the
simplest way, so I'll reinstall the free standing spellcheck. The
"tinyspell" sounds interesting but I'm afraid to rob more memory from my
RAM...

Thanks again! Adela

Hi Robear and thank you so much! I'm surprised that the 2007 MS Office
doesn't provide a spellcheck; however, I used to have MS Office 2002 or 2003
and did enjoy their spellcheck while I had that old Office. It must be a
sort of recent change?

Anyway, thanks for suggesting to use the Vampirefo spellchecker which is the
one I had when I lost Office and when I installed Office 2002 again it
deleted my free standing one. Typical of Microsoft isn't it?

If I delete the "Outlook" program that came with this MS Office
installation, will it affect other Office functions?

Thanks again.) Adela

One more thing, I don't know what Office year I just installed. Is there a

The year doesn't matter (and Office XP & Office 2002 have a lot of
similarities anyway).

You will not "delete" Outlook, you will Remove it from your installation of
Office XP:

With your Office CD handy in case it should be needed, open Add/Remove
Programs, select (highlight) Office XP then click on the CHANGE button. See
http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/help/HP052741691033.aspx (yes, that page
applies to Office XP, too).
