No Sound

As of last week I have can hear or play any system sounds.
I also have no Volume Control icon on the desktop.
However I can play sound from the CD=ROM.

Any suggestions?

Try using System Restore to take you back to a time prior to when this
began. Start\All Programs\Accessories\System Tools\System Restore.

If that doesn't resolve it, try reinstalling the drivers for your soundcard.
If that fails to resolve it, check the soundcard manufacturer's website for
the latest XP drivers for your card.
