I recently upgraded my computer from XP Home Edition to XP
Professional and I have no sound, though the computer
appears to be playing sounds. Device manager shows no
errors on anything, and I've tried updating and disabling
and then enabling all the audio devices. Also, I'm fairly
sure I don't see my speakers under audio devices, but Add
New Hardware finds nothing. Any help would be greatly
appreciated.

First, you are not going to see your speakers under Audio Devices as it
is not a hardware component that gets recognized. Second, you may have
to reinstall the sound drivers after the upgrade. What sound card do you
have? I will give you a link to the most updated drivers.

Finally, in Device Manager, try removing/uninstalling the audio devices
instead of disabling them. Then reboot and Windows will reinstall them ;)
