no sound

i recently wiped my comp disk from xp home and installed xp pro and now i have no sound or means of getting sound. i get error 0x80040256, remedy id 0x00000000 can anyone give me some idea of what has happened and how tofix it please? thanking you in advance.

You need to install drivers for your sound card. Get them from the
device mftr.'s website.
