No sound in LIVE MESSENGER

Hi all...keep it simple...installed a webcam around a week ago and signed up
for a windows live id...1st time I tried it out (with parents who also did
the same) it worked fine and we could hear each other, but the last 3
attempts we can see each other but no sound..!! Have tried the obvious
(connections, usb, mute, settings etc) but nothing)...same their end too...Im
no beginner, but this is infuriating me!!!! Can anyone help!!???? Thanks!

Sometimes WMP(layer) or other program reset the audio devices - check that
your webcam's microphone is the default mic as it might have been switched
to some other mic input on the board/sound card. That is in
CPanel/Sound/Recording-tab... scroll down since the webcam mic might be the
last device in the list and set it as the default mic.
Another issue might be the USB connection of your webcam - might not
reconnect correctly after stand by or such.
