no sound! :( help please

i can only hear sounds with media player,winamp and kazaa

when i go to watch net shows or flash cartoons i can't
hear anything, only windows media player,winamp3 and
kazaa make any noise

when i click on something, my mom's pc makes a noise mine
doesn't
