Hi,
I'm running Windows XP Professional with the latest service pack and
updates. I am not able to get any sound to come out of my speakers. I'm
using a Dell GX 520 with built-in audio. There's an internal DELL speaker as
well as external speakers connected.
Yes, I did turn up the volume.
I updated to the latest sound driver, I
updated the computer BIOS and no luck. In Device Manager everything shows up
fine (no yellow or red exclamation point ).
I called Dell and they had me do a hardware diagnostic check by booting into
the utility partition and I could hear the speakers then. It's just that
when I'm in Windows I can't hear anything.
Dell seems to think it's some kind of software corruption within Windows (I
seem to agree).
Besides doing a repair install of Windows XP, is there any other way to fix
this??
