No Sound but driver enabled

I have a sound card that was working fine but now will
not work. The drivers are installed and I even tried new
drivers but still no luck. Under device manager I look
at the properties and it says "Status: Driver is enabled
but has not been started". Has anyone seen this message
and know how to fix it.

Ben,

Did you make any changes that you can recall just before the sound card
stopped working? Have you tried using System Restore to go back to when it
did work and see if that fixes the problem?

Hello

I would remove all drivers and then let XP try to detect the
drivers it needs, and once that happens install the correct
drivers, you can give that a try

I don't recall any changes. I did do the system restore
but it did not fix the problem I also tried uninstalling
the drivers and let XP reinstall.
